Better rose than a sunflower

It is said that 30% of children are addicted to drugs of various kinds, the reason being apathy. What can we do? The answer is very simple. If we look around we will find at least three children whose eyes seem to be craving for someone why will care. See there, that little chap at the tea shop, or the boy assisting the mechanic, or that barefooted little one working at the grocery store. They are all around you. Open not just your eyes, but also your heart and you will see them.

Their expectation isn't much. They need simple acts like an unconditional smile, a gentle pat, something each one of us can easily give. Small acts can make a big difference. Imagine the importance of a few kind words to those ears, which have heard nothing but abuse? Imagine the meaning of touch to someone who has only been touched to be beaten. A few minutes of conversation with someone who has never received any attention from his drunken father will make all the difference. Don't underestimate the power of these small, but immensely meaningful gestures.

They say a sunflower blooms only in the direction of the sun. So are the major chunk of human race that exhibit their love and concern to the people near and dear to them. Let's not be conditional in our expression of love. Instead, let's be like the rose, which blooms not because the sun is there. But, because to bloom is its nature.
